Sylvia Bergh

 

Bio

Sylvia I. Bergh is lecturer in development management and governance at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague, NL. She recently defended her D.Phil. thesis in Development Studies at the University of Oxford, focusing on decentralisation and local governance in Morocco.
Sylvia previously worked at the World Bank. Her academic background includes a strong focus on the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region. Besides her teaching responsibilities and project work (including in Uganda), Sylvia plans to continue doing research on state-society relations at the local level in the MENA region as well as in other developing countries.
