Sinclair Dinnen 

 

Bio

Dr Sinclair Dinnen is a lawyer and sociologist and is currently a Senior Fellow with the State, Society and Governance in Melanesia (SSGM) in the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University.
He formerly taught law at the University of Papua New Guinea and was Head of the Crime Studies Department at the PNG National Research Institute. He has undertaken extensive research and policy work in the Melanesian countries particularly in the areas of conflict, law and justice reform and peacemaking. His research interests include conflict studies; cultural criminology; legal pluralism; restorative justice; as well as the challenges of building state and nation in socially fragmented post-conflict societies. He is currently a co-chief  investigator on a 3-year Australian Research Council Linkage Project - "Policing the Neighbourhood" - which examines the peacekeeping and policebuilding roles of Australian police in three international missions - Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, and Solomon Islands.
